// design + build + automate
Justin Radford — Just Rad Design

I design and build digital products people use.

For 12 years I've taken ideas from a sketch to a reality, developing products — the design, the brand, the website, sometimes physical, sometimes digital. End to end, from a flowchart to processing sales and automating a sequence of actions. If your users have a problem, I can design and build the tool that solves it.

Justin Radford
NODE_02 · THE THESIS

I meet people where they are.

Good design isn't about what looks impressive — it's about meeting a real person at the exact moment they need something, and carrying them all the way through. I work across the entire arc from landing to conversion.

BEFORE THE CLICK

Understand the need

Understanding what your user actually needs and designing the clearest path to it. The UX and product thinking.

THE CLICK

Build the thing that acts

Building the page, the flow, the product that gets them to act. The design and the build, end to end.

AFTER THE CLICK

Automate what follows

The automations that fire once they do: the follow-up, the trigger, the sequence that keeps working without anyone touching it.

Most people hand off between those three. I don't — which means nothing falls through the cracks between "we built you a nice page" and "it actually works." Same instinct at every stage: meet the user where they are, and never leave them stranded.

NODE_03 · WHAT I BUILD

What I build

Six streams, one operator. Each carries proof, not just a label.

STREAM_A

End-to-end product & web

Sites and landing pages built to convert, not just to look good. I've built conversion tools that sat in a client's main navigation for years and kept earning without a dollar of ad spend.

STREAM_B

UX & conversion design

I find where users drop off and design the path that gets them through. One flow I built converted at 3x the site average for everyone who entered it.

STREAM_C

Automation & systems

What happens after the click. I build the sequences that fire when a user acts — capturing the lead, triggering the follow-up, syncing the data — so the work keeps running without anyone babysitting it. Make, webhooks, custom pipelines.

STREAM_D

Brand & visual identity

The logo, the look, the feel — the layer that makes people trust you before they've read a word.

STREAM_E

Physical product design

When the answer isn't on a screen. I've designed, manufactured, and shipped real products — from sourcing materials to packaging to the storefront that sells them.

STREAM_F

Ongoing optimization & aftercare

I don't ship and disappear. The best work I've done came from staying on — refining the funnel over months until it actually performs. The deliverable is the start of the relationship, not the end.

NODE_04 · SELECTED WORK

Products that solve users' problems

I measure a project's success by many metrics but at the core it needs to solve a user's problem efficiently.

PROJECT_01

The CPAP.com Starter Pack

Web UX Conversion E-commerce

A guided product-discovery flow I designed and rebuilt three times across three platforms. Featured in the site's main navigation and sent to every newly diagnosed patient for over two years. No advertising. Roughly 3x the site's average conversion rate for users who entered the flow.

Problem

New-to-CPAP-therapy users find the crowded marketplace overwhelming.

Solution

A curated selection of three low-friction category choices paired with basic education.

≈ 3× site-average conversion · 2+ years in main nav
PROJECT_02

Productized Landing Pages — Upwork

Web Conversion Productized Service

I spotted a market: businesses on Upwork needed high-converting landing pages and couldn't find someone reliable. So I built a repeatable productized service and ran it for years off the side of my desk before taking it full-time. Many clients came to me after being let down by outsourced teams — they stayed for someone who picks up the phone and delivers.

Problem

Brands consistently need conversion-focused, single-action websites for specific campaign goals.

Solution

A repeatable process that carries clients from first contact, to a 15-minute meeting, to new client, to ongoing retainer-based page optimization.

PROJECT_03

Wesk Workspaces

Product Manufacturing E-commerce

A fold-away sit/stand desk for small spaces, designed from the ground up across four prototypes and pre-sold into production during the pandemic. The venture that taught me exactly where the hard limits of physical product are — and why I moved toward digital.

Problem

People working from home need multi-functional spaces that offer ergonomic adjustment and a clean separation of work and life.

Solution

A multi-form sit/stand desk that folds flat to the wall and stores work equipment inside after hours.

PROJECT_04

The Suspended Life

Product Brand E-commerce

A hammock brand that started on a trip to Bali and turned into a real product line: improved assembly, waterproof materials, a custom storefront, two production runs, and customers who still ask for more years later.

Problem

People want a place to sit out in nature, a place to sleep while camping, and a place to lounge in their backyard.

Solution

A hammock that packs away into a storage pouch, with included carabiners and webbing for easy setup.

NODE_05 · HOW I WORK

A sequence, every time

STEP_01

Identify the opportunity

Almost everything I've made started as something I noticed — a friend who wanted a hammock, a market on Upwork, a shift in how customers shop.

STEP_02

Map it as a system

Before building anything, I draw the problem as a process. Every idea starts as a flowchart in a notebook, to some it looks like chaos, but to me it's a plan. The smallest system that solves it is the one worth building.

STEP_03

Design + build end to end

The brand, the page, the flow, the product — no handoff, so nothing falls through the cracks between teams.

STEP_04

Automate the aftermath

Wire up the sequences that fire after a user acts, so the work keeps running without anyone babysitting it.

STEP_05

Optimization

Once it's live, I stay on and keep sharpening it — watching how real users move through and compounding small gains month over month. The launch is the start of the relationship, not the end.

NODE_06 · ABOUT

Twelve years of building things that work

I'm Justin. I started Just Rad Design out of BCIT and have spent over a decade taking ideas to finished products — first physical ones, then increasingly digital. I made that shift deliberately: once you've felt packaging eat your margins and logistics eat your weekend, you start looking for where the real leverage is.

I found it on Upwork — businesses that needed landing pages that actually convert and couldn't find anyone reliable. I turned that into a productized service and built it into a real business, then traded its variable demand for a full-time role at CPAP.com building conversion tools at scale. Now I'm bringing what I learned back to my own business — built to scale this time.

Off the clock, still building

The instinct doesn't switch off. I surf, I travel, I design, I model in CAD and 3D-print useful physical items because I can't help it — and that's not separate from the work, it's where a lot of it comes from. The hammock business started on a trip. The freedom to work from anywhere isn't the reward at the end of the job; it's the whole reason I built a business I can run from anywhere with just a laptop. Being able to leave at a moment's notice and keep working while I chase a swell or ride a mountain, it's not a distraction, it's what keeps me sharp.

Let's build something that solves your user's problem.

If you've got a problem your users keep running into, I'd like to hear about it. Tell me what you're trying to make — or what's getting in the way — and I'll tell you honestly whether I'm the right person to build it.
